Conference facilitation

Meeting Magic can stimulate engagement and participation in large groups. A large group shouldn't mean ‘death by PowerPoint’!  On the contrary, a well facilitated meeting can provide great opportunities for engagement and alignment between an organisation’s leadership and its employees.

“Meeting Magic transformed the conference. There was tremendous potential to create new partnerships, share information and create new ideas, but this could so easily not have manifested. You ensured that everyone's needs were recognised, equally valued, and achieved.

- Julia Dick, Castaway Television Productions Ltd

In large meetings, it’s easy to focus on one-way information giving. However, this can make the audience passive (or even sleepy!). Even the most inspirational speakers can only hold people's undivided attention for an hour or less. Whole days of presentations therefore have little long term impact.

Our conferences draw people into meaningful discussions about their work. This engages them and maximises the usefulness of their contributions.

We are committed to making your conference a success. This includes:

Involvement

We involve participants from the design stage right through to the meeting. We help leaders get their points across; we address the key issues that the group wants to discuss; we don't patronise people by sharing information that they already know. Our visual approach works at all levels.

Decision Making

Large meetings are often just talking shops with no real decisions being made. Our creative processes enable big groups to make more effective decisions.

Long Term Impact

Our conferences have a more long-term impact than traditional ones (which tend to focus on presentations). This is because we involve the participants in engaging discussions. Our conferences generate both commitment and momentum, helping to ensure that any decisions are followed up.

Here are some specific examples of conferences we have facilitated:

  • A one day conference for people in different organisations who work in a specific area of crime prevention. 200 participants took part in a series of plenary presentations and specialist workshops.
  • A two day internal conference for people in a single function, located at geographically dispersed sites. This reviewed past successes and problems and agreed a common way forward for the group.
  • A half day forum involving different parties affected by a proposed change. This gathered feedback from everyone about their views.
  • A two hour meeting involving 200 people from one Division of an organisation. The leader shared her vision for the group and the participants were able to explore its potential impact upon their teams.
